  It is not common to write a review for a funeral home, but I would like to take the time and thank Mr. Curtis Day for helping us with a funeral at such a short notice. Not only was the De Vol Funeral home very responsive to our needs, but their way of approaching this sensitive event was very comforting. Unfortunately, some day, everyone will have to face this and I would like to recommend De Vol to help.

  My family's recent experience with DeVol Funeral Home compels me to try to help other grieving families avoid the added pain we endured from such uncaring, unreasonable people. We had just lost our beloved Mother and noticed upon our arrival, that neither the woman who answered the door nor the funeral director acknowledged our loss. It was all business. That attitude continued when we asked for a single extended viewing rather than the standard schedule. We were told that they just don't do it that way -- apparently too inconvenient for them to have to staff it. We asked for limo transportation from the funeral home to the church the morning of the funeral and that was also a problem. They could arrange for a limo, but only in a taxicab sort of way. The hearse would "meet us there later." WHAT?! There was no caring OR actual funeral directing -- just the selling of their stock services. We chose to have our Mom transferred to another funeral home whose attitude was very different. If you care about your loved one and want to work with people who care about you, don't choose DeVol.
